Natural Ways To Detox Your Body Through Your Feet
Foot Detox Explained
Our feet are rich with nerve endings and sweat glands. In fact, according to Oriental medicine, the feet are the ‘second heart’ of the body. They help pump return circulation back up to the into the torso. It makes sense then that detoxing through the feet would be an effective way to remove toxins from the body. The benefits are many and go well beyond the simple removal of toxins.
How does the foot detox work?
The process is simple. While there are different methods of detoxing through the feet, the principle is the same for all. Toxins are drawn from the body through the feet using a solution.

The benefits of a foot detox are many. And they go well beyond simply ridding the body of toxins. Additional benefits include:

- They help relieve pain or tension within the body
Types of Foot Detox
Ionic Foot Bath
We couldn’t possibly discuss foot detox without mentioning the ionic foot bath. The ionic foot bath is a foot soak that aims to make the body’s pH more alkaline as increased alkaline means the body is less acidic and less prone to illness (this is oversimplified so you get the point).
Simply put, the foot bath removes toxins and free radicals that can cause health problems.
DIY Foot Detox Methods
If you’re not up for an Ionic Footbath it’s possible to give yourself a foot detox in the comfort of your own home. In fact, there are several options for doing this. Bear in mind that in general, foot detox should not be done if you have open cuts on your feet. In addition, avoid plastic containers for at home foot baths. If possible, invest in a wooden or porcelain bowl.
Apple cider vinegar
Typically, a foot detox using apple cider vinegar involves soaking the feet in a solution of 1 part apple cider vinegar to 4 parts water for about 15 minutes.
Bentonite clay and Apple Cider Vinegar Paste
Bentonite clay has many amazing properties, including the ability to pull toxins from the body. For this foot detox, the bentonite clay is mixed with apple cider vinegar (2 parts clay to 1 part vinegar) and the feet are coated with the mixture then it is left to dry. Once the clay has dried the feet are immersed in a mixture of warm water and Epsom salt, for about 15 minutes until the clay falls off. Feet are brushed then dried with a towel.
Detox foot pads
Detox foot pads are a great way to do an at-home detox without the need for any additional ingredients. The pads are applied to the soles of the feet based on the organs you want to target. Pads should be covered with a sock to ensure they are kept secure and should be kept on for about 8 hours.
The options are many and varied for a foot detox. Research has proven that they work. So it’s just a matter of choosing one that’s right for you then giving it a waggle.
